New BENZHI is coming
2008-02-26 00:07 by
|
BENZHI has long been the number one resource for teachers looking to find jobs for teaching English in Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and China.
July 23, 2008 will mark our 5th year anniversary of being the leader in the EFL industry.
We have begun to revamp our complete website, and expect that it will be ready for our 5th year anniversary launch!
BENZHI looks forward to serving all of your needs in the future to come. |
Website Development
2007-02-25 17:44 by Admin
|
At this time, BENZHI has discontinued development of its current website. In addition, registration has been disabled and postings of new jobs has been suspended.
Since November 2006, BENZHI received a number of hacks and injections that resulted in a currupt database and raised severe security issues with the current site.
We anticipate that we will have the new site up and active by Q3 2007. Please look for a more active website then.
We look forward to continuing to serve all your EFL needs. |
Security Maintenance *update*
2007-02-12 22:32 by Admin
|
>>Update<<
As opposed to using the current site - our assessment proves that the current site needs to redone in order to secure it. So, further development on the current design (the one that you are seeing now) has be halted.
We will be launching a new site in the forthcoming future based on another platform. We look forward to being able to actively serve you again in the near future.
Unfortunately, over the course of the past couple of weeks, the BENZHI site has had some site security lapses exploited by hacking groups from Russia and Malaysia.
As a result, we have disabled any new member registrations during this maintenance period. Some user's accounts have also been deleted and our database reverted to a previous date.
We are currently reviewing our site security policies, and during this time you may experience site userability issues. |

 | | The funnier side of finding a job | BENZHI - November Special Feature
Employers get to see a wide variety of different applications. Schools looking for EFL teachers get to see even more diversity in the resumes they receive because of the extent of the application pool. Sometimes, some of the information presented in these applications can cause a serious laugh or two.
While we know you submit your resumes in earnest, we are presenting some mistakes here to let you know that maybe your resumes and job applications you send may be a bit better than some of the compitition out there.
We hope you enjoy and are reminded not to take things too seriously.

EFL/ESL Teaching Career Exit Strategies
2005-09-21 21:01 by Admin
|
 | | The unexpected termination. Plan for it now. | The BENZHI career exit strategy guidebook
There are endless sites that provide information on how to enter the EFL/ESL teaching industry, and an equal amount of sites that instruct you on how to get a job. But how often does a recruiting site, or a job board for that matter, offer you information on how to leave your job, or what to do if you get fired from your teaching job? What steps to take, what things you should consider, and how to do it with your sanity intact.
Nobody likes the thought of being unemployed. Fewer want to think about the possibilities of getting fired. This is even truer when you are at the stage of trying to find a job.
However, if you find yourself in either of these categories (not thinking about getting fired) then it’s time to come down from that sleepy utopia you’ve been floating in. Start to think about the possibility now, not tomorrow.
This is a must read for anyone considering a new career in teaching EFL/ESL abroad in unfamiliar circumstances. Veteran teachers shouldn't neglect this guide either - more than 60% of teachers who have taught more than 3 years have no exit strategy in place.

Mentoring a new EFL teacher: a quick guide.

 | | May EFL / ESL Article | BENZHI - May feature article
Most people remember the first day that they walked into their own classroom. For some, it was a frightening experience. For others, it was one of life’s most rewarding experiences. But to get into the classroom and receive this memory, there had to be some training somewhere. Obviously, everyone doesn’t receive training. There are some that were cast into the lion’s den without any advice, or training, at all. Regardless of the path you took to get where you are – there will be a point where you will have to provide that advice to the incoming “freshman” of teachers.

EFL vs. ESL - Whats the difference?
2004-04-22 19:06 by Admin
|
 | | What's the difference between EFL and ESL?!?! | Never confuse the two again
There have always been great misunderstandings, or no understandings, of what are the differences in the terms ESL (English as a Second Language) and EFL (English as a Foreign Language). In the broad sense, they are similar in as much that they both refer to an assimilation of the English language. But that is pretty much where the similarities stop and the differences emerge.

Have a Great and Prosperous New Year!
2004-01-09 19:03 by Admin
|
 | | Happy Chinese New Year | HAVE A HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!
Jan 10, 2004 11:00AM Hong Kong - There are a million things that await you in the upcoming year. But maybe none so important as finding a job that makes you happy. Teaching rewards teachers in many different ways: Each smile that you see, each new word that you hear, each new leaf that you see fall. They are all remarkably different in a new culture and new country.
This year explore the possibilities that come with teaching EFL abroad. Regardless of what it is that you do... everyone here at BENZHI wishes you the best for the New Year! |
BENZHI NEW SITE GOES LIVE
2003-12-16 10:06 by Admin
|
Jan 1, 2003 Hong Kong - The New Year started off with a bang for BENZHI. Without wasting any time, they initiated their new web site. The web site is about 40% faster than their previous site because of a complete reworking of the sites code.
The new site is based on one of the BENZHI operating principles: Think Fast, Move Fast.
Michelle Yu, BENZHI's managing director, explains. "The new site was necessary because within about 2 months our website was already spanning about 100 or more pages. That is almost an enterprise level site, and requires enterprise level support." She continues, "Our size was also having an impact on our visitors in below par load times. The previous BENZHI site was no turtle, but there was room for improvement. We anticipate great results with the changes that were made."
It seems that great results are within BENZHI's reach. A recent query of most major search engine indexes reveal BENZHI in the top 5 for EFL keywords. Ms. Yu states that about 50% of job hunters looking for EFL or ESL teaching jobs in one of the BENZHI target markets know of the BENZHI name. This figure is set to increase as the New Year progresses. |
BENZHI provides services for a niche market
2003-11-07 23:41 by Admin
|
Nov 8, 2003 Hong Kong - There are many job boards out on the Net. So why should BENZHI be any different than all the rest? There are two reasons.
The first is BENZHI unique targeted approach. Whereas most other job site cater either to one country, or to the other extreme, all the countries, BENZHI has chosen to go after the Chinese market. In addition, most job boards do not limit themselves to just one particular type of job. BENZHI does. It limits its posting to the EFL / ESL job market.
The Chinese market is one of the fastest growing markets on the planet today. They have one of the biggest demands for English foreign language teachers. It is calculated that by the year 2007, almost half of all language teachers teaching abroad will be employed within the Chinese market.
BENZHI also attempts to provide a professional venue for recruiters, employers, and schools to search for employees. This is achieved by allowing employers to recruit teachers for free. Currently, the business model allows BENZHI to provide free job postings (free job board) for recruiters. An employer can post an unlimited amount of available jobs for free. All that is necessary is that the employer register with the site.
The BENZHI site does have some restrictions for the free offer. Recruiters can not post "non specific" posts. For example, a recruiter could not post "we have 100's of jobs." But if an employer has 100 EFL teaching jobs, they could post them for free at the BENZHI EFL / ESL job board site. Another restriction is that it must be for an EFL / ESL teaching job (or closely related) for one of BENZHI's specific EFL markets.
Currently that market is composed of four regions: China, Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
BENZHI is one of the only websites on the Internet that provides EFL/ESL employment solutions strictly for the demanding Chinese market. |
