Tips for traveling abroad.

One of the great perks of being an English EFL teacher is that you get to see many far and away places of the world. Traveling goes hand-in-hand with the career.

Are you ready for your next destination? Got your bags all packed, your car sold, and your mail forwarded? Great, you’re somewhat ahead of the game. Those may be some of your important things to do, but the list doesn’t end there.

When traveling abroad there are many things to take into consideration above and beyond the cost of your plane ticket. Some of the others are: registration with the Embassy, the best way to plan your trip, health and safety issues, knowing the regional information, Entry Visa regulations, and what other important documents you should have with you when you travel.

What are the differences between EFL and ESL?

There have always been great misunderstandings, or no understandings, of what are the differences in the terms ESL (English as a Second Language) and EFL (English as a Foreign Language). In the broad sense, they are similar in as much that they both refer to an assimilation of the English language. But that is pretty much where the similarities stop and the differences emerge.

Principles of mentoring new teachers.

Most people remember the first day that they walked into their own classroom. For some, it was a frightening experience. For others, it was one of life’s most rewarding experiences. But to get into the classroom and receive this memory, there had to be some training somewhere. Obviously, everyone doesn’t receive training. There are some that were cast into the lion’s den without any advice, or training, at all. Regardless of the path you took to get where you are – there will be a point where you will have to provide that advice to the incoming “freshman” of teachers.

Understanding inherent anxiety within ESL testing scenarios

The writer's aim is to research material for an action research on reading comprehension tests. The problem statement of the action research is that ESL students feel anxious when doing reading comprehension tests. The solution proposed is to use stress relievers to trick the mind into believing there is no danger. ESL students will be taught stress management to relieve anxiety when doing reading comprehension tests. It is believed that once students are relaxed they will be able to perform better

When one hears about a "personal trainer" the first thought that usually comes to mind is the personal trainer found at your local fitness center. They help whip you into shape by devising customized personal workout plans that meet your needs and goals. Now those same personalized principles are being transferred into learning centers. The personal EFL trainer is a growing niche industry that is making ground. Companies and individuals are seeing the benefits from their customized EFL plans, personal attention, and adaptability.

BENZHI - October feature article

Both new and seasoned EFL teachers alike have enough adversities to deal with in the classroom. Occasionally, these problems become too much, and the teacher "burnouts." Burnout is one of the biggest career wreckers out there - often destroying many promising EFL teachers’ careers before they even get a chance to get started.

Employers get to see a wide variety of different applications. Schools looking for EFL teachers get to see even more diversity in the resumes they receive because of the extent of the application pool. Sometimes, some of the information presented in these applications can cause a serious laugh or two.
